York/Adams Women's Lacrosse Officials' Assoc

Who we are

The York/Adams Women's Lacrosse Officials' Association is a not-for-profit membership organization, providing trained umpires for girls' and women's lacrosse in York and Adams Counties, PA. We operate as a division of US Lacrosse, the PIAA, and Women's Division Officials Council (WDOC). All of our umpires are members of US Lacrosse and are trained and rated in accordance with guidelines set forth by the WDOC.

Mission Statement

It is YAWLOA’s mission to:

  • Promote and facilitate a safe environment for women’s lacrosse
  • Train and rate new officials
  • Develop and retain higher-rated officials
  • Contribute to the overall values of sportsmanship and teamwork in the State of Pennsylvania

Become an umpire

Follow these steps:

  1. Register for an officials’ class (optional)
  2. Pass the PIAA test
  3. Affiliate with a PIAA local chapter
  4. Obtain necessary background checks and clearances
  5. Attend a Rules Interpretation meeting each season
  6. Attend 6 chapter meetings per season

Background Checks

The following are needed to officiate in York/Adams County:

  1. FBI Fingerprints
  2. Childline Child Abuse Clearance
  3. PA State Criminal Background Check
